Here is a little about me……..

My family and I consider ourselves extremely lucky to have made Lexington Virginia our home 18+ years ago. My husband Joseph teaches Economics at Washington and Lee University. Our two teenagers keep super busy:) Our daughter Greta doing ceramics, painting and swimming and our son Leif -running, metal crafting, computer gaming and more Running. We also have two amazing dogs we love dearly -Forrest, the big one and Sassafras the sassy one!

In addition to loving dogs - I have always loved to make things, primarily through painting and drawing. I study, borrow and am inspired by the world around me in terms of - color, texture and composition. As I look to nature and architecture for inspiration, I try to incorporate the harmony and balance I observe & admire, while designing for my clients spaces.

I earned a B.A. from the University of Chicago, and my M.F.A. is from the Rhode Island School of Design. My journey into interior design began with a solid foundation in the home furnishings industry. I honed my skills in residential textile design in the bustling city of Manhattan, NY, before venturing into interior design roles in Madison, Wisconsin, at Zander's and later in Lexington, VA, at Hamilton Robbins. The next phase of my career saw me in the construction industry, designing for Welsh Construction in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley alongside Tim Welsh. This diverse experience culminated in the launch of my own venture, Lucy Lyons Design, in 2022.

I genuinely enjoy helping others and working purposefully to get things done well. Every project and client is different, and each one teaches me new things. I continuously challenge myself to be creative in new ways to meet my client's needs and make each project unique.

I understand that living through construction projects is hard for homeowners and can add a lot of stress because of delays and strangers in your space day after day. I can help lessen that stress for everyone with honest and consistent communication. Often, my role is as a liaison between clients and contractors, to check in frequently and update details so everyone is better informed and can plan accordingly.

My role is entirely up to the client since I work for you.

I can help with as little as a single paint color or as a project coordinator by giving information and detailed answers to contractor and subcontractor design questions. In this role, I maintain a thorough communication thread about decisions and changes that need to be made to keep a project moving forward while minimizing callbacks and change orders.
